About PromptMeter

PromptMeter is an independent tool project built by a cloud/IT professional and maker focused on making AI usage costs easier to understand before teams scale.

It exists because AI costs can be hard to reason about before a prompt is used repeatedly in an app, workflow, support process, or automation.

PromptMeter uses approximate browser-side calculations based on text length, selected tokenizer profile, expected output length, manual pricing inputs, and usage volume.

PromptMeter does not send your prompt to a PromptMeter backend for local estimates.

PromptMeter does not claim official provider prices. Pricing profiles are examples or manual inputs, and users should verify official pricing with their AI provider.

The current product works without a backend, accounts, database, or server-side prompt processing. This keeps the main calculator simple and private by default.

Future versions may add more calculators, richer educational content, verified pricing workflows, or optional backend features if there is enough product value.
